Payments

We are not a payment processor. On purpose.

Most invoicing tools want to sit between you and your money, because that is where the percentage is. NextiaInvoices does not. You bring your own payment provider, your client pays you directly, and we charge a flat subscription for the software — nothing else.

How it works

Three steps, and we are absent from the important one.

  1. 01

    You configure a payment URL

A Stripe Payment Link, a Square or PayPal link, a Helcim page, a Wise request, or written bank-transfer instructions. Anything reachable over HTTPS. Set it once at the business level, or override it per service or per invoice.

  2. 02

It renders as a button on the invoice

In the invoice email, in the secure client view, and — if you want it there — on the PDF itself. You control the button label and the surrounding instructions.

  3. 03

    Your client pays you. Directly.

They click through to your provider and pay. The funds settle into your account on your provider’s schedule, under your merchant agreement. We are not in that path and never see the transaction.

The boundary

What NextiaInvoices will never do.

This is not a current limitation or a feature awaiting a roadmap slot. It is a hard boundary in the product specification, and it constrains what we are allowed to build.

There is nowhere in the product to enter a card number, a banking password, a processor secret key or a merchant credential — because we never ask for them, and a field that does not exist cannot leak.

  • Collect or store card information
  • Receive or hold your funds
  • Calculate your processor’s fees
  • Take a percentage of invoice value
  • Act as merchant of record
  • Manage your payouts
  • Require your merchant secret keys
Compatibility

Whatever you already use.

Because the integration point is a URL rather than an API key, the list of providers that work is effectively the list of providers that can produce a payment link. Switching providers later means editing one field, not migrating your billing.

  • Stripe Payment Link
  • Square Payment link
  • PayPal Invoice or payment link
  • Helcim Payment page
  • Wise Payment request
  • Interac e-Transfer Bank instructions
  • Bank transfer Written instructions
  • Any HTTPS URL Your provider, your choice

We hold no credentials for any provider listed here, and we are not an integration partner of any of them. Their names and logos are their own trademarks. All NextiaInvoices stores is the public URL you chose.

Resolution order

Different work, different links.

A design retainer paid by card and a large project paid by bank transfer should not use the same button. Each invoice resolves its payment link in a fixed order:

  1. 1 · Invoice override

A link set on this specific invoice wins over everything else.

  2. 2 · Service-level link

Otherwise, a link attached to the service being billed.

  3. 3 · Business default

Otherwise, the default you configured for the business.

  4. 4 · No button

And if none is set, the invoice simply carries no payment button. Nothing is invented.

The resolved URL and button label are stored on the invoice when you finalize it. An invoice you sent two years ago keeps behaving the way it did two years ago, even after you change providers.

Safety

A URL is untrusted input, and we treat it as one.

HTTPS required

Production payment URLs must be HTTPS. Unsafe schemes — including javascript: and data: — are rejected outright rather than sanitized and hoped about.

Shown, not hidden

The external destination is displayed clearly to your client. A payment button should never be a mystery redirect.

Injection-protected

Payment URLs and instructions are escaped everywhere they are rendered — the email, the client view and the PDF template.

Changes are logged

Every change to a payment URL writes an audit entry. If a link on your invoices changes, there is a record of who changed it and when.

Questions about getting paid

Does NextiaInvoices process payments?

No, and this is deliberate. We never collect or store card information, never receive or hold your money, and never act as merchant of record. You configure your own payment URL — a Stripe Payment Link, a Square or PayPal link, a Helcim page, bank-transfer instructions, or any secure HTTPS URL — and we render it as a button on your invoice.

So how does the money reach me?

Exactly the way it does today, through whichever provider you already use. Your client clicks the payment button on the invoice, pays through your provider, and the funds land in your account on your provider’s schedule. We are never in that path.

What percentage do you take of my invoices?

Zero. There is no percentage, no per-transaction fee, and no cut of invoice value. You pay a flat subscription and nothing else. Your payment provider will charge its own processing fees, as it does today — those are between you and them, and we neither calculate nor collect them.

Do I need to give you my payment provider’s secret keys?

No. We never ask for card numbers, banking passwords, processor secret keys, or merchant credentials, and there is nowhere in the product to enter them. All we store is the public payment URL you want on your invoices.

How do payments get marked as paid?

You record them. When the money arrives, mark the invoice paid — in full or partially, with the balance tracked. Because we are not in your bank account or your processor, we cannot see the payment, and we would rather say so than guess.

Can different invoices use different payment links?

Yes. There is a business-level default, an optional per-service override, and a per-invoice override. The invoice resolves them in that order, and stores the result on the document, so an invoice you sent last year keeps behaving the way it did last year.

Send your first invoice in under five minutes.

Set up your business, add a service, and bill a client — all before your coffee gets cold.
